At CaroMont Health, the safety of our patients and employees is our highest priority. Family members and care partners remain respected members of the healthcare team and are welcomed to our facilities with the following guidelines in mind:

Our Promise

• CaroMont Health patients have the right to define their “family” and how they will be involved in care, care planning and decision making.
• All patients have the right to receive visitors. CaroMont Health will not restrict, limit or deny visitation privileges based on age, culture, language, physical or mental disability, socioeconomic status, race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or disability.
• Visitation is open to virtually anyone – a spouse, domestic partner (including a same-sex domestic partner), another family member or friend. CaroMont Health will ensure that all visitors enjoy full and equal visitation privileges consistent with the patient’s preferences.
• The patient has the responsibility to inform the staff of any visitor(s) they would like to be asked to leave.
• CaroMont Health will allow a family member, friend or other individual to be present with the patient for emotional support during the course of the hospital stay.
• CaroMont Health will allow for the presence of a support individual of the patient’s choice unless the individual’s presence infringes on others’ rights, safety or is medically contraindicated. The support person may or may not be the patient’s surrogate decision maker or legally authorized representative.

North Carolina’s No Patient Left Alone Act

CaroMont Regional Medical Center complies with North Carolina’s No Patient Left Alone Act (NPLAA). The statute is available here.

Patients and families who believe a violation of the NPLAA has occurred may reach out to the individuals responsible for investigating NPLAA visitation violations:

• At CaroMont Regional Medical Center, please call 704.834.2694 and ask to speak with a Patient Representative
• Individuals may also contact the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services at 800.662.7030 and ask to speak with the Clinical Administrator
• Individuals may also contact The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Region 4 at 404.562.7888 and ask to speak to the Regional Director
